Mount Rainier is an active composite volcano located 54 miles (87 km) southeast of Seattle. It is the highest peak in the Cascade Range at 14,411 feet (4,392 m). With 26 major glaciers, Mount Rainier is the most heavily glaciated peak in the lower 48 states with 35 square miles (91 km²) of permanent snowfields and glaciers. The summit is topped by two volcanic craters, each over 1,000 feet (300 m) in diameter with the larger east crater overlapping the west crater. Geothermal heat from the volcano keeps areas of both crater rims free of snow and ice, and has formed an extensive network of glacier caves within the ice-filled craters.

Funkylofts visits Historic Whitehouse-Crawford, Walla Walla, Washington

Monday, May 26th, 2008

066.JPG      074.JPG  080.JPG   The Whitehouse-Crawford operated as a lumber planing mill and furniture factory until its sale to the City of Walla Walla in 1988. The former planing mill from 1905 has been rescued and restored to house this restaurant inside 100 year old brick walls. As you walk around the restaurant there are many historic photos from when it was a working mill. The flooring at Whitehouse-Crawford is wide plank red fir. Originally the floor joists of the building, the large 2 x 12″ boards total an impressive 9,360 linear feet with boards varying from 16 feet to 31 feet in length. Stunning restoration & dining experience! Delicious food & wine served by knowledgable people in a serene warehouse environment. For funkylofts, a dream come true, in Walla Walla!

funkyloftsinvite.jpgAs neighbors in the historic Corona Hotel in Pioneer Square, Funkylofts co-hosted a party on site last Thursday (see fotos below) with Carole McClellan, showcasing great design in architecture & fashion. Funkylofts invited clients & acquaintances who are considering buying homes in the new development projects such as 1 Hotel & Residences, Escala, The Four Seasons, and  Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue. Carole’s guests were busy trying on her recycled fur coats which she lines with vintage Hermes silk scarves before they wandered across to peruse the informational materials on hand for all the new lofts/condominiums being built in downtown Seattle. The party buzz continued long after the empty champagne magnums since Gina’s loftmade white chocolate/pumpkin & dark ginger/mango truffles were in abundance. If interested in attending one of our events in the future, please drop us a note at urbanites@funkylofts.com.
